Doffee—Dough & Coffee, Multatuli

Let’s go to Doffee. Wait! What? Goofy? or Dovey? When you can’t decide a name, combination is sometimes the best. Doffee, singkatan dari Dough & Coffee, hadir meramaikan kuliner di kawasan Multatuli.

Cafe seluas 1 ruko yang terletak di sebelah Randy’s cafe ini dulunya ialah Grill Potluck, sebuah resto yang menyajikan hidangan hot plate.

Sayangnya, konsep awal tersebut kurang mendapat respon yang baik, sehingga memaksa pengelola untuk merubah tempat tersebut dengan menambah embel ‘coffee’ sebagai senjatanya.

Memasuki cafe, langsung jumpa bagian bar dan display area, dan okupansinya hampir setengah panjang ruko!

Dengan demikian, semakin terbataslah tempat duduk. bagian depan terpampang display yang menjual berbagai dessert dan cemilan bungkusan.

The length is a bit unnessary though. I mean look at how empty the space is…

Selain itu, penempatan mesin kopi yang hampir setinggi kepala baristanya juga kurang ergonomis menurut saya, resulting fatigue in long term. Whoever design it should probably learn more from Starbucks on efficiency.

Talking bout small place, kehadiran kami di minggu siang itu sedikit kecewa, karena meja yang available itu ternyata direserve (and ironically only occupied saat kami hampir selesai).

Kami memutuskan untuk pindah ke luar, which was another mistake as well, it’s super hot!

• Aglio Olio (35)
  A little al dente, spicy, and a bit dry. Just an average pasta.

• Marcopolo Chicken Ham (22)
  It’s polo bun with chicken ham and telur mata sapi. While it’s supposed to be signature product dr Doffee, plating was too plain honestly.

• Marcopolo Buffalo Chicken (27.5)
  The same bun with different condiments. Ayam bakarnya mirip dengan resep Grill Potluck dulu, and it’s good, marinated well. If you had to choose chicken ham or buffalo chicken, go for this.

• The Blue Cow 200gr (98)
  Not sure why they name it so, tapi dengan harga yang lumayan terjangkau untuk daging steak sapi, you can’t expect premium meat. However, it’s marinated and grilled well, tidak alot but not juicy either. I’d say it’s still enjoyable to eat.

• Grilled Chicken Steak (45)
  Grill daging yang sama dengan polo bun, hanya saja lebih besar ukurannya, paired with cross cut french fries and vegs. 45rb is a good bargain.

• Chicken Curry Pizza (80)
  Thin crust based pizza dengan topping ayam dan saos kari. Yang demen pedes cocok pesan ini. Good for sharing too.

Overall harga makanan disini wajar dengan tempat yang disediakan, and the taste is not bad either.

• Red Glory & Mango Tango (35 each)
  And here it comes to the fancy mixed juice with overpriced tag. Red Glory is simply beet, carrot and orange. Mango Tango is Mango, pineapple, passionfruit smoothie.

• Hazecocado (38)
  Avocado coffee topped with hazelnut gelato. I couldn’t say much karena yang mesan ialah keponakan saya. Portion was a bit small with the price offered.

• Coffee is priced at competitive price as well. Latte at 35 (belum termasuk pajak). Perhaps yang ketinggalan saya order ialah Espresso Julep (28), karena awalnya saya pikir hanya espresso shot.

There’s not much you can do dengan luas usaha yang terbatas. And with the nature of ruko shape, it’s dark inside. Kalau kamu suka yang lebih remang tempatnya, this one is for you, tapi dengan jarak antar meja yang dekat, quietness is not guaranteed.

Kawasan Multatuli yang padat cafe ini juga kompetensinya tinggi, terlebih lebih kalo genrenya sama. Strategi Grill Potluck yang menggunakan resep sama dikemas dengan kulit baru memang tampaknya berhasil.

But has it succeeded among coffee shops around? Time will tell.
